Candace
Ransom
Fredericksburg,

“And
so I became a writer of children’s books–not an easy task since I believed
all children’s writers were dead”
A slow developing, but
imaginative youth, Candace Ransom has long since shed her clumsy childhood and
come into her own as a children’s author.
As her titles suggest, her childhood in rural Centreville, Virginia and a
love of history have influenced her writing greatly.
She has written over 75 books for children to date.
Most of her books target the K-5 audiences, with exceptions extending as
young as Pre-K with The Big Green Pocketbook and as mature as 8th
grade with Maria von Trapp: Beyond The Sound of Music.
