Gil Kur is a second-year PhD student in the EECS department at MIT, and his advisor is Prof. Sasha Rakhlin. His main research interests lie in high-dimensional statistics, statistical learning theory and high-dimensional geometry, as well as the interconnections between these fields. He obtained his master's degree in pure mathematics and statistics from the Weizmann Institute of Science, and his first degree from Technion in pure mathematics. He also won the best master's thesis award on statistics in Israel.


Designed for a broad audience, Longwood's Math and Computer Science Colloquium Series explores ideas, developments and careers in the fields of mathematics, computer science and mathematics education. Learn more about the Colloquium Series
