Five-Year Strategic Diversity Plan Feedback Sessions

The University Diversity Council (UDC) is developing a Five-Year Strategic Diversity Plan for Longwood, which will be proposed to President Reveley and the University Planning Council (UPC) in spring, 2020 to be considered for adoption. Your ideas, experiences, and knowledge are crucial for the plan development, implementation, and assessment.
Therefore, the UDC is holding open sessions for faculty and staff this fall to provide your views about opportunities for improvement and strengths at Longwood, along with ways you or your areas might participate in its implementation and assessment. The draft plan developed so far includes three key focus areas:
- Create a climate of diversity, access, and inclusion
- Improve transparency in communication about diversity related issues and incidents on campus
- Strategically infuse diversity, equity, access, and inclusion practices throughout the curriculum and co-curriculum
You can see the entire, current draft of the plan by clicking here. However, as a draft plan in its nascent stage, the priorities can and will change based upon feedback from campus members.
UDC members will be conducting feedback sessions at academic, staff, and student meetings this fall to gather your ideas. Beyond this, there are other ways to participate:

The focus areas and preliminary plan were developed based upon a campus climate survey distributed in 2018, focus groups, literature reviews, and best practices. If you are interested in seeing the campus climate results, you can review them by clicking here.
The UDC was started in fall 2017 as part of the UPC by President Reveley. The UDC's mission is to develop and suggest policies and procedures; as well as implement programs that facilitate Longwood increasing its diversity and becoming a more pluralistic, inclusive, and socially just community.
