LCVA's Art After Dark Series and Farmville Pride Present a screening of “Come Back to the 5 & Dime Jimmy Dean Jimmy Dean” on August 29 at the LCVA(129 North Main St). 

Doors open at 6pm and the program starts at 6:15pm

Stephen Marion, of Farmville Pride, will introduce the film and moderate a panel discussion. The panelists will include Jes Simmons, Assistant Director of Citizen Leadership and Social Justice Education at Longwood University, Paige Flanagan, Academic Technology Librarian and Assistant Library Director at Hampden Sydney College, and Chris McGee, Co-Chair of Women's and Gender Studies, Department of English and Modern Languages at Longwood University.

Come Back to the 5 & Dime Jimmy Dean Jimmy Dean, is an award winning Robert Altman film based on a play by Ed Gracsky. The movie takes place at a dime store in McCarthy, Texas in 1975 during the 20th reunion of the “Disciples of James Dean” fan club. This emotionally charged narrative explores how the events of 1955 forever entwined and changed the hidden lives of a small group friends in a small town.

This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

This film is co-presented with Farmville Pride.
