At Maugans Blackwell Ballroom
Organized by Office of Citizen Leadership & Social Justice Education
The Social Justice in Action Leadership Summit (SJALS) is a symposium that provides participants with the opportunity to increase their awareness and understanding of social justice issues and empower them to become agents of change through civic engagement. SJALS aims to motivate and encourage students to use their experiences as citizen leaders to advocate for social justice (change) and equality on campus and throughout their perspective communities.
This year's theme--Continuing the Race Conversation: Politics, Platforms, and Progress--aims to unpack the racialization of politics. This summit will give students the opportunity to learn about the history of race in government and politics, the impact race has on political issues, and understand how they can be a voice of action for positive change as citizen leaders. Students will participate in small group discussions/workshops, hands-on activities, and an interactive keynote presentation.
You may register for SJALS by filling out the form found here: https://form.jotform.com/clsje/social-justice-in-action-leadership
