Dr. Sarah Walsh, Hansen Lecturer in World History at the University of Melbourne, will be giving a talk for women's history month: "Depicting the Chilean Race: Gender, Imagery, and the Creation of a Racial Type." The overall question that informs her research is: how do prejudice and discrimination based on human difference (race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability) get maintained in intellectual systems which explicitly reject those concepts?
