This section provides you with the types and sources of aid available at Longwood. Funds are provided to the university through the Federal and State governments to award to students who demonstrate financial need as a result of filing the FAFSA. REMINDER: Most  financial aid programs have a satisfactory academic progress criteria. This criteria must be met to receive the Federal and State programs listed.

 

Financial Assistance Programs

Grants: Grants dO nOT have to be repaid. The following is a list of grants available at Longwood:

    Academic Competitiveness Grant

    Federal Pell Grant

    Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant

    Gear-Up

    National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant

    Virginia College Scholarship Assistance Program

    Virginia Commonwealth Award

    Virginia Guaranteed Assistance Program

    Virginia Two-Year College Transfer Grant

 

Scholarships: Scholarships DO NOT have to be repaid. They generally have a merit or performance criteria. Some examples are awards made through the Art, Music, and Theatre Departments, athletics, and endowed Longwood Foundation Scholarships.

 

Loans: Loans MUST BE repaid and include the following:

    Federal Stafford Loans

    Federal Plus Loans

    Federal Perkins Loans

    Federal Graduate Plus Loans

    Private Loans

 

Work Experience: Opportunities for students to work on campus while attending college.

    Federal Work Study

    College Work Study
