Longwood University Foundation’s mission includes supporting the University by timely distributing scholarship gifts and awards to help reduce the rising costs of education for the institution’s students. All scholarships are funded by individuals and organizations who deserve our sincere thanks for their generosity. Because of our donors’ generosity, Longwood is able to provide the following scholarships to attract, reward, and retain deserving students.

The recipient shall be a full-time undergraduate junior majoring in biology who has a 3.5 GPA.

Wayne H. Tinnell Biology Scholarship
Awarded to an individual seeking a biology degree. Must have a 3.0 GPA overall, 3.25 GPA in biology. Must have completed a minimum of 60 semester hours and completed at least three biology courses at Longwood. Renewable.

Wayne H. Tinnell - Hines Scholarship
The recipient of this scholarship shall be a full-time undergraduate seeking a biology degree who has completed a minimum of 60 semester hours. Awarded to resident of Southside Virginia or Vance and Warren counties, North Carolina. Renewable.

Lucile Walton Biology Scholarship
This scholarship is for a junior or senior majoring in biology who participates in a natural history contest devised by the biology faculty. Renewable.

Lillie Evelyn Goodrich Scholarship

Helen McGuire Hahn Scholarship
Preference to full-time enrolled undergraduate student; second preference to full-time graduate student; 3.0 or above GPA. 75% awarded to an active member of Kappa Delta Pi preparing for a career in elementary or secondary education who is classified as a senior the year in which the award is to be used. 25% to Southside Virginia resident upperclassman or grad student who intends to teach and has a 3.0 GPA.

Susan Eddy Soza and William Soza Scholarship

Virginia Price Waller Education Scholarship
Awarded to an education student who plans to teach. Must have completed 15 hours and have a 2.5 GPA or higher. Financial need and academic ability are determining factors. Preference is given to a Longwood Student Education Association member. Renewable.

Louise Brightwell Watson Education Scholarship
First preference is given to applicants from Prince Edward, Buckingham, Cumberland, Nottoway, and/or Charlotte Counties. Based on financial need, academic merit and intent to teach. Renewable.

Virginia Blanton Hanbury Fund
Awarded to Dean’s List students with financial need who have completed at least their freshman year. Recommendations are required from the Department Chair and the Dean of College of Major. Renewable.

Lois Barbee Harker Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement. Renewable.

Calvin P. Hatcher Scholarship
Awarded to junior or senior with demonstrated financial need. Includes scholastic achievement, initiative, and working well with others. Renewable.

Martha Walton High Scholarship
Awarded to a full time student who has a minimum 3.0 GPA. Renewable.

Victoria Johnson Hoffius Scholarship
Awarded to a full time undergrad and resident of Nottoway County. Must maintain satisfactory academic progress towards graduation. Renewable.

Dorothy Owen Hubbard Scholarship
Awarded to a full time students from Franklin or Southampton County. First preference to students with high academic achievement and with intentions to teach upon graduation. Financial need shall also be a determining factor. Renewable.

Awarded to a junior likely to graduate from Longwood, engaged in the Longwood community and possesses a strong value of education. Renewable.

Jarman Honors Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time undergrad or graduate, with preference to an undergraduate, with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Renewable.

Mary Elizabeth Daniel Jones Scholarship
Full time Cumberland County resident with a 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need. If no Cumberland County resident applies, consideration given to Prince Edward and Buckingham County. Renewable.

Kappa Delta Founders Scholarship
Awarded to an initiated member of a National Panhellenic Conference sorority with a chapter at Longwood on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, and service to the University and sorority. Renewable.

McGrath-Lewis Eastern Shore Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time student based on academic achievement who is a resident of the Eastern Shore of Maryland or Virginia. Renewable.

Memorial and Honor Scholarship

Awarded to a full-time student with demonstrated financial need and a minimum 2.0 GPA. First preference to a resident of the Altavista area who attended Altavista High School. Awarded to a Prince Edward County resident who graduated from Prince Edward County High School and was accepted for admission as a freshman.

Anthem Practicum in Health, Recreation and Kinesiology
90% to HARK students who have developed, implemented, and evaluated a health promotion program for the Southside Virginia community. 10% may be used for supplies/materials.

Eleanor W. Bobbitt Scholarship
Full time junior or senior physical education major in the teaching option. The student must have attended Longwood University at least two years, have a 2.75 GPA overall and a 3.00 major GPA. The student must be outstanding in professionalism as demonstrated by attendance and/or membership in student and professional organizations, and an active participant in service projects. Olive T. Iler Physical Education Scholarship
Rising senior majoring in physical education in the teaching option. The student must have been a student at Longwood University for five semesters and must have made plans to complete the degree at Longwood. The recipient must possess outstanding personal qualities, high ideals, good scholarship and professional ethics.

Linda Marie Hall Mahorney Scholarship

Full time junior or senior with a Math or Comp Science major. 3.0 GPA. Renewable.

Robert P. Webber Scholarship
Awarded to an incoming freshman, full time undergrad, who is majoring in a course of study within the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. High academic merit will be a determining factor. Renewable.

Dabney Stewart Lancaster Scholarship
To a sophomore or higher who shows academic promise and is active in campus life. Consideration given to grades and financial need.

Tal Yeatts Scholarship
Scholarship support to a student employed by Longwood's food service provider. Must have strong academic achievement. Renewable.

Shiv Sharma Memorial Endowment
Awarded to a student(s) that works in Campus Recreation to assist them in attending a professional development conference within Campus Recreation or personal fitness field.  All students working in Campus Recreation are encouraged to apply, however, high academic achievement will be a determining factor.  The award is non-renewable.
