General Education

General Education is the core of the Longwood University academic experience and prepares you for all of the opportunities that life and career have to offer.

The General Education program at Longwood consists of 14 goals that not only engage you in various fields of study, but also provide the chance for you to use a variety of skills to explore challenges before you encounter them in the professional world.

All of the goals share some common characteristics including an emphasis on critical thinking, written and oral presentation skills, effective use of information, and approaching problems from diverse perspectives.

These courses are at the heart of your education and experience here at Longwood.
