Welcome to General Education at Longwood
General Education is the core of the Longwood University academic experience. General Education gets you ready for all of the opportunities that life and career have to offer. It enables you to explore different types of challenges and to use various approaches to meet them in a classroom setting before you encounter them in the professional world.
The General Education program at Longwood consists of 15 goals that engage you not only in various fields of study, but provide the chance for you to use different skills to research and resolve different types of questions. All of the goals share some common characteristics. Among them are an emphasis on critical thinking, written and oral presentation skills, effective use of information, and approaching problems from diverse perspectives.
These courses are at the heart of your education here at Longwood. They are part of the common experience of all current Longwood students and alumni.
