School Library Media

The school library media degree program is designed for individuals who hold a valid Collegiate Professional Teaching License or equivalent from another state and who want to earn a Master of Science degree in education with a concentration in School library media.  Coursework prepares the individual to meet the varied roles required of a school library media specialist in the 21st century - the roles of information specialist, instructional partner, teacher, and program administrator.  The concept of the library media specialist as a catalyst for academic achievement is emphasized, as is the importance of helping our PreK-12 students become information literate, independent, lifelong learners.  Collaboration, leadership, and technology are themes, which run throughout the program.  Successful completion of this program qualifies a person to become a school library media specialist in grades PreK-12.
