Recycling and Reusing Tips
  • Use both sides of paper when copying and writing
  • Use your junk mail and paper scraps as note paper
  • Carry and use a refillable water bottle instead of buying bottled water. Farmville's tap water is very good and tasty. Millions of plastic bottles are ending up as litter, and are crowding our landfills.

  • Recycle or reuse your plastic shopping bags. Kroger, Food Lion and Walmart have plastic bag collection bins by their front doors!
  • Avoid aerosol! Use pump sprays instead of aerosol when possible.
  • Don't throw away good items that are still usable. Donate unwanted clothing or household goods to the Goodwill or Madeline's House for reuse. Both are in Farmville. The Southside SPCA also runs a thrift store in Keysville that helps homeless dogs, cats, puppies and kittens.

  • Commit to using reusable plates, cups, mugs, and silverware instead of disposable items. A styrofoam coffee cup will last for decades, while your coffee lasts just a few minutes.
