About This Video

On October 4, 2016, Longwood University hosted the only Vice Presidential Debate of the general election, stepping into the national spotlight and highlighting our mission of citizen leadership. The effort was built with our students in mind—offering them varied academic opportunities and classes built on the debate themes, and assigning them volunteer roles that matched their interests and studies.

The debate’s legacy is a heightened sense of civic engagement and responsibility, a renewed sense of mission and a palpable momentum as we build on our success this year.

In numerous other ways, from technical infrastructure to our core curriculum, the debate is a springboard to Longwood’s future.
