Health Insurance
HEALTH INSURANCE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL STUDENTS
Information regarding health insurance is available in the Student Health and Wellness Center. Students should carry a copy of current insurance information with them to ALL health care providers. Call 434-395-2102 if you need resource information. Click here for current insurance provider options.
HEALTH INSURANCE IS REQUIRED FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
International Students: Visit the Longwood University Office of International Affairs for information on required health insurance. Click here for Traveler's Health information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
HEALTH INSURANCE: Medical services in the U.S. are not nationalized. Costs for doctors' services and hospitals may be more expensive than in other countries. Longwood University requires that international students subscribe to a health insurance plan before arriving.
The policy must provide coverage for hospitalization expenses, medical evacuation, and repatriation expenses.
IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS: Every full-time undergraduate student must have a Certificate of Immunization on file. This record must include immunizations for measles, mumps, rubella, polio, diphtheria, and tetanus. Meningitis and Hepatitis B immunizations are also required, however, waivers can be signed for Meningitis and Hepatitis B if the student chooses to not receive these immunizations. Students may not be able to register for classes without complying with these immunizations. If you have particular medical needs, you should contact the Longwood Office of Student Health and Wellness. http://www.longwood.edu/health.
