Emergency Contraception (EC) works by delaying or inhibiting ovulation and will not disrupt an implanted pregnancy. EC pills reduce the chance of pregnancy by 75%-89%.

During 2006, emergency contraception became available at participating pharmacies, such as CVS, without a prescription for individuals 18 years of age and older. To obtain EC, simply ask your pharmacist. Please note, some pharmacies, such as Wal-Mart, do not dispense EC.
