Microsoft Internet Explorer 7
Internet Explorer 7 is the latest version of the browser from
Microsoft. Internet Explorer 7
has some nice features to include
a revised interface, tabbed browsing, improved printing
features, and a phishing filter. There are some significant
changes in the navigation of this
new browser. Below you will
find instructions and tips for using Internet Explorer 7.
Getting Started:
1) Open the IE7 web browser by clicking on an
IE7 icon .
2)
Your browser should launch and open a
"Customize Your Settings" webpage. Under
Required Settings,
select your default search provider. You may keep your current
default
search engine (e.g. Google) or find
a new one.
If you do not want to change the search
engine settings now, you
may later change them
inside
IE7.
3) In the same webpage, under Optional Settings, check the box
next to Turn on
Automatic
Phishing
Filter.
(Phishing is when scammers imitate legitimate websites, such as
those from
Paypal or your bank, in
order to
trick you into giving out confidential information. The Phishing
Filter is a new feature in Internet
Explorer 7
that attempts to verify that a website is legitimate.)
4) Scroll to the bottom of the "Customize Your Settings" webpage
and click Save Settings.
Tabbed browsing overview:
Tabbed browsing allows users to open multiple
websites in one Internet Explorer window by
clicking on the
open New Tab button or
pressing CTRL+T.
You can preview thumbnail images of all open tabs in a single
view, by clicking on the
Quick Tab button
The Add Tab Group to Favorites feature allows users to save
multiple tabbed windows into one
favorite
tab group. For
example, you may have ten tabs open and instead of saving each
tab
one-by-one, you can save them all at once into one group.
Click on the add favorites star icon
and
select Add Tab Group
to Favorites. Then next to Tab Group Name, type
in a name. Finally,
click
Add.
