Who is required to have a laptop?

All entering Longwood University Freshman and transfer students are required to purchase a laptop. Because of volume discounts, strong support on campus, and the four-year-on-site warranty it is highly recommended that Longwood students purchase a laptop through the Longwood/Dell Laptop Program.

Does anything come on the hard drive of my laptop?

Longwood University has worked closely with Dell Computer to make sure that all of the software that you will need are on the computer’s hard drive when it arrives at your door. This is a process that allows you to easily connect to the school’s network and it reduces the time it will take to get started using you computer. In addition, your laptop will come with all of the software provided under the University’s Microsoft Campus Agreement.

What additional options would you recommend?

You don’t NEED additional options, but we strongly recommend a spare battery and a printer. You may also want to consider an external mouse.

What kind of support of my Longwood/Dell laptop do I have on campus?

Longwood has a Dell certified technician on site at our Computer Repair Center. In addition, User Support Services is available for student support Mon-Fri. What if I need technical support before arriving on campus or during the summer?

You are covered by your Dell warranty at home as well as when you are on campus. Call Dell Technical Support at 1-800-234-1490.

Does the laptop warranty on my laptop cover the screen if it breaks or cracks?

Beginning Fall 05, a Complete Care warranty is included in the Longwood/Dell laptop specifications. This warranty covers many things that are not covered in the standard warranty, such as a cracked or broken screen and spilling liquids on the keyboard. This is a great warranty that makes the Longwood/Dell laptop an even better value!

How long is the battery that ships with my Dell laptop warranted for?

The battery is a consumable product is warranted for (1) year.

What is the method of payment for my laptop? Is financing available?

Dell accepts all major credit cards. Financing via payment plan is currently not availalbe for Longwood/Dell laptops.
