Reset the Test or Quiz Attempt of a Student

Go to Control Panel, then Gradebook, click on the student's entry in the Gradebook for that test at the intersection of their name and the assignment.

  Sometimes the icon is a padlock, other times the icon may be a red ! (exclamation point) mark.  The padlock usually indicates a student is in progress on the assessment.  The red ! mark usually indicates a problem or that the assessment needs grading.  Do not reset the attempt until contacting the student to make sure they are not in an actively taking the assessment.

Click on View button on the top right side.

It is a good practice to skim the responses to see if the student has any progress on the assessment.  Click on Clear Attempt on the top right side.  That removes any record of the assessment and is unrecoverable.
