Question:
Who do I contact with technology support questions?

Answer:
All technology support request should be directed to User Support Services. There are multiple ways of contacting User Support Services for work order submission. There is a form online at https://chinook.longwood.edu/user. You can also send an email to helpdesk@longwood.edu. Finally, we are available by phone from 7:45 AM - 9 PM Monday – Thrusday and 7:45 AM - 5 PM on Friday by calling (434)395-4357 (HELP).

Question:
What is the LancerNet ID, what is it used for, and how do I get one? 

Answer:
The LancerNet ID and password is used to access the myLongwood web portal, Longwood’s email system, Blackboard, etc. The LancerNet password must meet the complexity standards as defined in the University’s Password Management Policy and is set to expire on a one hundred and twenty day cycle. The LancerNet ID and password is requested via the New User Form found at http://www.longwood.edu/helpdesk/old_forms/new_user.htm

Question:
Is technology training available to faculty and staff?

Answer:
Yes! Training classes are offered on campus during the regular business day on topics such as Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, FrontPage, Blackboard, etc. To view a full listing of classes and for class sign up please visit the Faculty/Staff Development Training page.

Question:
What software is available to Longwood faculty and staff?

Answer:
A software library to include McAfee Antivirus, Spyware removal tools, etc. is available online through Help Desk. Faculty and Staff may also have Microsoft Windows and Office loaded on personal machines for work at home purposes. There is no charge for the software; however, there is a labor charge at the rate of $35/per hour. Please place a work order at User Support Services if you are interested in having software loaded.
