Question:
Who do I contact with technology support questions?

Answer:
Your first line of support is your Resident Technology Associate (RTA). Each residence hall has assigned RTAs. There are also RTAs available for commuter students. For a complete listing of RTAs to include contact information please visit http://www.longwood.edu/helpdesk/rta/

When are the Resident Technology Associates available?

Answer:
RTA hours are:
Monday – Thursday 6 PM until Midnight
Friday – NO HOURS
Saturday – 2 PM until 9 PM
Sunday – 2 PM until Midnight

Question:
What is the LancerNet ID, what is it used for, and how do I get one? 

Answer:
Upon admittance, each student will automatically be assigned a LancerNet ID and password.  This ID and password will be used to access to the myLongwood portal, student web pages, network registration, etc.  The LancerNet password must meet the complexity standards as defined in the University’s Password Management Policy and is set to expire on a one hundred and twenty day cycle.   All students should register with CYPHIR, a web based tool that will allow students to change their LancerNet password. Question:
What do I do if I my LancerNet password is not working and I have not registered with CYPHIR?

Answer:
If your password is not working and you have not registered with CYPHIR you will need to visit User Support Services with a photo ID to have a technician reset your password.

Question:
What is the LancerNet bill?

Answer:

The LancerNet billing cycle runs from the first day of every month through the last day of every month. An email including the current balance is sent to all students at their Longwood email address after each monthly billing process. Charges billed on the LancerNet bill include telephone, computer repair, computing lab print jobs, and Microsoft Software (media).

Question:
What printing options are available for students? Is there a charge?

Answer:
As a direct result of Longwood’s reduced budget, effective Fall 2009, students will no longer have access to free printing in the academic computing labs or library. Printing is be available at the rate of nine cents per page for black and white and one dollar per page for color.

Any student who wishes to print in an Academic Computing lab or Library public research station PCs MUST use their Longwood University ID card.

Question:
What software is available to Longwood students?

Answer:
A software library to include McAfee Antivirus, Spyware removal tools, etc. is available at http://www.longwood.edu/helpdesk/software/software_library.htm. Students can also purchase a copy of Microsoft Office (2007 for PC users/2008 for Mac users) by filling out a Software Request Form at http://www.longwood.edu/helpdesk/software/software_request.htm.

Answer:

Question:
I’ve heard there is wireless on campus, but how do I connect to it?

Answer:
