Microsoft Outlook 2003 Configuration Instructions

  1. Launch Microsoft Outlook 2003
  2. From the "Tools" menu, select the "E-Mail Accounts" Item

  3. Choose "Add a new email account", click "Next"

  4. Choose the third option, "IMAP"

  1. In the "Your Name" Field, enter your full name.
  2. In the "email address" Field, enter your new Longwood e-mail address.
  3. In the "Incoming mail server (IMAP)" field, enter "mail.longwood.edu"
  4. In the "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)" field, enter "smtp.longwood.edu"
  5. Under Logon Information, Enter your LancerNet ID (first part of your new email address) in the "User Name" field if it is not there automatically.  Uncheck the "Remember password" box (You'll be able to turn it on later if you wish).
  6. Click on "More Settings".  A new window opens.

 

E-mail account settings
  1. From the "Outgoing Server" tab, check "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication"

  2. From the "Advanced" tab, check "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" for BOTH "Incoming server (IMAP)" and "Outgoing server (SMTP)"
    From the "Advanced" tab, check "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" for BOTH "Incoming server (IMAP)" and "Outgoing server (SMTP)"
  3. Click on "OK"
  4. Click on "Next"
  5. Click on "Finish"
