Student LancerNet ID Change

What?

The student LancerNet ID format will change. The format of the ID will change from the student's initials followed by three randomly generated numbers to the student's last name followed by the first and middle initial.

Example of OLD format: jas123

Example of NEW format: smithja

Any student who has a name that is duplicated in the system will have their ID appended with a number. For example in the event that there are two users with the last name smith and the first and middle initials ja – the ID would be smithja2. Those students affected by this will be notified individually via their Longwood email account.

NOTE: The new format mirrors the current faculty/staff format.

When?

The change will take place October 12th. Please note that this change has been scheduled during Fall Break to minimize inconvenience.

What do students use the LanerNet ID for?

Students use the LancerNet ID to log in to Blackboard, myLongwood, Library databases, lab and Library computers, computer registration, student web shares, etc. This change will not affect the student email account in any way.
