Prospective Students

Eligibility

  • Receive an eligibility letter*
  • Submit an Essay
    • What are your intellectual interests?
    • How do these interests shape the way you look at the world?
    • How would your interests and perspectives contribute to the Honors College?
  • Complete Honors Retreat
    • 3 Days
    • Run by Upperclassmen Honors Students
    • Introduction to the Honors College
    • First half of Honors Longwood Seminar, with a focus on critical thinking and team building

*Transferring students from the Virginia Community College system and from senior institutions with recognized Honors Programs may normally apply completed Honors courses from their previous institutions toward Longwood's Honors Program requirements.

 

Honors Requirements

  • Compete 8 Honors Courses before graduation
    • 3 must be 300 level or above
    • More than one Honors Course may be taken a semester
    • At least one honors course every other semester
  • Must maintain a 3.25 GPA in all Honors courses
  • Must maintain a 3.25 GPA overall
  • You become "inactive" if you fail to meet these requirements
