Conferences

National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) Conferences

Longwood Honors students also participate annually in the Virginias Collegiate Honors Conference, the Southern Regional Honors Conference, and the National Conference on Undergraduate Research. The Honors College covers all expenses for Honors students presenting their work.

Fall 2008 (October  23-26) - San Antonio, Texas

Students from hundreds of colleges and universities gathered near the Alamo to present their honors work. Longwood Honors students Amber Biron, Brittany Miller, and Dana Proven made poster presentations at the conference.

Fall 2007 (November 1-3) - Denver, Colorado

The annual conference of the National Collegiate Honors Council was held in Denver on November 1st through the 3rd at the Hyatt Convention Center.

The presenters were as follows:

  • Sara Silvernail: "Geographical Influences on the D-Day Invasion"
  • Margaret Richardson, Molly Rafferty, Rachel Price, Heidi Swartzentruber: "Student-led Orientations--Challenging the Environment"
  • Matt Armentrout, Whitney Bowen, Brittany Smith, Maryanna O'Neill: "A Visit to the Past: Collaborative Research on 18th-Century Life"

Julie Gaines also attended the conference as a member of the Flute Ensemble.
