Athletic Training
The Athletic Training Education Program develops
students who are clinically competent, independent thinking health care
providers. Although our patient population has traditionally been those
individuals who meet the definition of athlete, certified athletic
trainers render services in a managed care model addressing the medical
care of athletes. The Athletic Training Education Program must prepare
clinicians that have global understanding of the rapidly changing health
care provider system and the evolving base of our potential clientele,
necessitating a broad and diverse educational experience.
Program graduates are prepared to enter the
profession of Athletic Training with a comprehensive education
experience that is enhanced through the interaction of their classroom,
clinical, and professional education experiences. Entry-level standards
for entering the Athletic Training profession are defined by the
Board of Certification's Role Delineation
Study of the Entry-level Athletic Trainer and the educational standards
to meet this end are maintained and monitored by the Commission on Accreditation of
Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The Program
continually seeks to exceed these evolving standards. Students
completing the Athletic Training Education Program recognize the
necessity of the continued pursuit of educational opportunities and
maintenance of professional excellence.
