Coaching
Students interested in the coaching minor must
enroll in 18 hours of specialized professional courses in physical
education. Any student may elect to take the following sequence of
courses for a minor in coaching:

Health Education
The minor in Health Education is designed to
provide students with information about current health issues and to
help them develop attitudes and behaviors that will be helpful in
attaining a state of optimal health throughout their lifetime. This
minor is open to students in any major program other than those in the
Physical and Health Education Teacher Education Program (PHETE) and is
particularly complementary to degrees in the health and human services
areas.

Outdoor Education
The outdoor education minor enhances the
Therapeutic Recreation major, and is especially useful for those
clinicians who will work with "at-risk-youth" in education, juvenile
justice systems, and adventure therapy programs. Although not limited to
these populations, outdoor education has a wide application to diverse
population groups and is often used as a "modality" in the delivery of
therapeutic recreation services.

Pre-professional Clinical Studies
The purpose of this minor is to provide the student
with applied knowledge of athletic training clinical theory and skills. It
is primarily designed for those students pursuing other medical and allied
health fields or graduate education

Driver Education Endorsement
Students can elect to become certified to teach
Driver Education. Our program is a competency-based, fieldwork intensive
curriculum that ensures students obtain teaching experiences throughout
their academic career. As a result, graduates tend to enter the
workforce confident in their ability to deal with the many challenges
faced by public school teachers in K-12 settings.
