Outdoor Education Minor

The Outdoor Education minor enhances and compliments many major disciplines at Longwood. Students with majors in Therapeutic Recreation, Biology, Communications, Education, Liberal Studies, Psychology, Art, Sociology, Physical Education, Exercise Science, Anthropology, and Business have all benefited from the minor in Outdoor Education.

The experiential nature of the course offerings provide the student with leadership development and skill development in a variety of adventure activities and settings. Through direct experiences, students learn the necessary components to becoming a successful outdoor leader and educator. The knowledge and experience gained in and outside the classroom, enhances the students appreciation and protection of the natural environment. Credentials in Leave No Trace Training, Wilderness First Aid and CPR are obtained.
