“Currently, I am on my Senior Internship at the McGuire VA Medical
Center. I choose Therapeutic Recreation because I knew I could not sit
behind a desk at an unrewarding job. I am a hands on person, and like
to help people, that is exactly what Recreation Therapist do. I can use
my creativity and desire to improve people’s lives everyday in this
career. I also liked that there are so many places I could work if I
ever wanted to change jobs. I choose Longwood University specifically
because its program in Nationally Certified, which means as soon as I
graduate, I am automatically eligible to sit for the national exam and
be certified! Plus Longwood has a nationwide reputation in the field of
Recreational Therapy.”

Quote:
“I am majoring in Therapeutic Recreation because I love helping people
and seeing someone with a smile makes me even happier. I chose to come
to LU because it’s a small university, close to home, and when you are
here, it seems as if everyone is just one big family. When I graduate, I
plan on using Therapeutic Recreation to work with the elderly.”
