Frequently Asked Questions
How do I obtain a Longwood University ID card?
A Student ID Card is only given to those who are officially enrolled as degree- seeking students, or accepted as a visiting exchange or study abroad student. Once all the conditions for enrollment are met, and the details are incorporated into the university registration system, the official enrollment takes place and an ID card can be issued.
Incoming freshmen and commuter students will have their photo ID taken during Orientation. Students will pick up their ID card during Orientation and are urged to keep it in a secure place until the semester begins. Don’t forget to bring it with you on move in day.
Any upperclassman needing a student ID must go to th e ID Center located in Lancaster G22a. A $15.00 fee may be incurred for a replacement ID.

Loaner cards are issued for 72 hours at the discretion of the Department of Public Safety. There are a designated number of loaner cards in the system, therefore loaner cards MUST be turned back in to the ID Center or Campus Police in a timely fashion. In the event that a loaner card is lost or not returned, you will incur a $20 lost card fee and your student account will be flagged until it is returned or paid. Loaner cards may be used to access the Dining Hall as long as another form of picture ID is shown to verify the student.

Why doesn't my card work on breaks and school holidays?
- Every card has a deactivation date signaling the end of each semester.
At the start of the new semester, your card will be encoded with a new deactivation date.
When the deactivation date is reached, your card will no longer allow you access into your residence hall. RCL sets the times for moving out of the residence halls and you must adhere to their cut off time.
**NOTE: The Card Center is a division of the Longwood Department of Public Safety and is not affiliated with ARAMARK. The Card Center is not responsible for making changes to meal plans or other information related to the dining hall.
