Our Staff

Debra Wooding

 

Mrs. Debra A. Wooding:

Debbie Wooding is the Security System Administrator and the manager for Longwood University’s ID Center, a division of the Police Department. She has been employed at Longwood for 15 years.

Debbie began her Longwood career in 1993 as a Telecommunications Support Technician for IITS.  Debbie was one of two people who implemented and oversaw Longwood’s first Help Desk from 1994 – 1997. From 1997 – 2001 she was the project manager for the IITS Vice President and 5 managers.  She also taught continuing education classes in computer software during the summer months.

She became the ID Center Manager/Security System Administrator in 2001 a year after Longwood’s security installation project began. With the inception of an integrated security management system and proximity control access, Longwood’s Photo ID Center was created.

Since the security system’s inception, Debbie has overseen expansion in Longwood’s needs and functions with regards to faculty, staff, & student access, system programming, reader capacity, client stations, fire alarm reporting and new construction projects. What began as 10 building controllers managing 41 secure door access points has now expanded to 26 building controllers managing 311 secure access points both on and off the Longwood University campus.  In addition, she monitors 40 IP security cameras located in Longwood Landings and keeps track of the comings and goings of over 6000 Longwood affiliates.

Debbie lends her time and experience to various Longwood committees including the Staff Advisory committee, the Conference & Scheduling Campus Team, the Summer Shine committee, the Video Security team, the LUBUG committee and the Opening Logistics team. She is also a respected member of the National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU), which provides a diversified source of campus card related services, information and networking opportunities for campus ID card industry professionals.

Debbie is a 1974 graduate of Longwood College who majored in Education and has taught first and third grade. In addition to raising three sons, she has also held positions as an Activities Director, Assistant Personnel Manager, Director of Social Services, medical assistant, and dental assistant. Her past activities include  Junior Woman’s Club historian, Woman’s Club president, girls softball coach, YMCA swimming coach, league bowling tournament play, handbell choir member,  Sunday school teacher and Christmas parade chairman.

Amongst her hobbies are photography, reading, sewing and spending time with her two grandchildren. She is an avid nature  and animal lover,  which is reflected in her photography. She and her husband, Chuck, live in Cumberland county.
