Compliance with ISO 27002
As part of Longwood’s effort to become a Level II institution, a designation by the state that grants more operational autonomy, the Longwood University information security program would move toward compliance with ISO 27002. ISO 27002 is an international standard of best practices for information security management. Should the Level II status be approved by the state Longwood’s information security program would no longer be subject to the requirements of VITA, but would instead be required to meet ISO 27002.
How will this change affect me?
Currently we are reviewing the standard and how it relates to our current policies and practices to understand the impact this change would have on the campus.
When will this change happen?
The Board of Visitors approved a University Information Technology Security Program policy at the September 2009 BOV Meeting; however, the formal designation from the state must be given before the change can take effect.
Who can I contact with questions or concerns?
