Shibboleth Feasibility Study
The Information Security Office will be evaluating Shibboleth to determine the feasibility of the system for use at Longwood for collaboration with other institutions. Shibboleth is a system that allows individuals to use their university user ID and password to access resources at other institutions.
How will this change affect me?
Currently we are only evaluating the possibility of using Shibboleth so that we can be prepared with our assessment of the system should a university department request consideration of Shibboleth for authentication of university users to non-university resources.
No requests have been received to implement Shibboleth and decisions have not been made to implement or not implement Shibboleth at this time.
When will this change happen?
Our goal is to complete this feasibility study during fiscal year 2010.
