There are many American students at Longwood University that are interested in meeting international students! Some choose to become part of the international student buddy program.  Every international student will meet an American student "buddy" when they arrive at Longwood University.  At first, the buddies will help international students navigate the campus and student life at an American University, as well as plan recreational trips.  Over time, many of these relationships have turned into longtime friendships.

Student Activities and Involvement

Get involved! With over 125 student clubs and organizations, it should be easy to find one that suits your interests.  If not, you can always start at new student organization! For a full list of opportunities, visit the Clubs and Organizations webpage.

Residential and Commuter Life (Housing)

Most international students live in a residence hall on campus. Longwood University attempts to place every international student with an American roommate, so that students can interact and learn about the many cultures represented among our students. This is a great way to make friends and to become involved in the life of the campus. Most of the residence halls are configured in "suites," with two rooms sharing a bathroom. Each room has Internet access, cable TV, and voicemail capabilities. For further information regarding housing, please visit the Residential and Commuter Life website.

Student Health and Wellness Center & Counseling And Psychological Services

The Student Health and Wellness Center provides both clinical care of acute medical conditions commonly found on college campuses as well as health education programs.  These services are often free and always affordable. Counseling And Psychological Services provides psychological services to help students achieve their personal and academic goals. Many international students experience "culture shock", which is the very understandable sense of uncertainty and anxiety that affects people that are suddenly immersed in a new environment. Counseling And Psychological Services can provide services for students that have adjustment issues such as culture shock.

Dining Services

The Longwood University Dining Hall is a popular place for students; in addition to the daily entree selections, you may select from the pasta bar, salad bar, omelet bar, yogurt and ice cream bar, the grill, and the sandwich deli as well as vegetarian and vegan selections.
