Information for New International Students

We are looking forward to your arrival at Longwood University! Naturally, you probably have many questions about how to prepare for your time at Longwood, and what you will be expected to do when you arrive.  This website should help you find answers to these questions.

International Student Orientation

Upon arrival at Longwood, all international students will participate in orientation sessions sponsored by the Office of International Affairs.  J-visa students will participate only in International Student Orientation, while F-visa students will participate in both New Lancer Days activities, and some sessions of International Student Orientation.  You will be contacted by the Office of international Affairs before arrival about the International Student Orientation and New Lancer Days schedule.

What to Bring to International Student Orientation

When you come to International Student Orientation, please bring your passport, I-20 or DS-2019, proof of health insurance, and certificate of immunization.

What to Expect at International Student Orientation and New Lancer Days

International Student Orientation is meant to quickly prepare you for life at Longwood University. You will receive information about:

  • Visa regulations and how to maintain good legal status in the United States for both F-visa and J-visa students
  • How to prepare for the academic environment at Longwood, and the academic support services available
  • The Farmville community, including public transportation, banking information, the bookstore, and where to shop.
  • Opportunities for social interaction and involvement in student life
