Assignment Feature For Instructors
The Assignment Feature is new to this version of Blackboard. An "Assignment" may be placed anywhere within the course by the instructor and is a good method to turn in files to the instructor from the whole class. To create an Assignment, go into any area like Course Documents or Assignments (Assignment area and Assignment feature are not necessarily related) inside of the Control Panel. Instead of adding a new item, go to the right side and in the Select drop-down menu, choose Assignment, then hit Go.
Next, add a description of the Assignment, attach any files they'll need to complete the Assignment, and hit Submit. You may or may not include a file for the students to download. When the student is ready to submit the assignment, they should read over the list of suggestions about files submission to make sure they are ready. Also, they are only able to submit an Assignment once, so be sure they've completed the necessary work. They can Browse to the file on their computer, select it, and hit OK. They can also enter a comment if they wish. Here is a link to the student information about electronic file submission. This file is sent to the instructor along with any comments the student has made. The instructor can then download the submissions from the whole class, grade them electronically (after extracting them from the .ZIP file that Blackboard created and you downloaded to your computer), and return them to the individual students. Grading the AssignmentsGo to the Gradebook in the Control Panel. It opens to the spreadsheet view and you will find the area for this Assignment.
Clicking on an individual student's lines will show you information for that student's assignment. When you click on the student's line, you can then click on the View button at the end of the line to view the student's submissions as pictured below. Under the View button is also where you return digitally graded assignments to the student. You'll need to fill in section 3 to return the file to the student and you can add optional comments for yourself under section 4.
Clicking on the Assignment's TITLE at the top of that column will give you options related to that Assignment (downloading all submissions in particular)such as:
