in person training
related to the product.
After your training, the Blackboard Administrator will
receive a notification of your attendance, but feel free after you have
completed the training to contact the Blackboard Administrator at

Wimba "Live Classroom" Information for
Students:
We've contracted with a company named Wimba to provide a level of
service above and beyond the abilities of those in the Blackboard
Virtual Classroom. All of the features of the Blackboard Virtual
Classroom are present with a few extras like Voice Over IP which allows
you to talk to your instructor and fellow students in real time. Other
benefits include Polling, document sharing, desktop sharing, and the
ability to record it all and play it back at a later time just like you
were there. Best of all, people with Macintosh, Windows, and even Linux
can participate in the same room using Internet Explorer, FireFox, and
Safari web browsers.
With all these features, there are a few more computer requirements,
but the Live Classroom Wizard will walk you through the steps and assist
you in getting everything all set up. You may even have to download
Quicktime for your computer if you don't already have it. That can be a
large download, so be prepared to run the wizard as soon as possible
when your sessions are scheduled.
If you plan on using the audio features, a headset/microphone
combo is best. By using a headset, the sounds produced by
others and your computer are not picked up by your microphone resulting
in a better experience for everyone. Headsets prices start around $20
but you can find some for less or use one you already have. You could
also just use your headset with the built in microphone in your
computer. NOTE: Macintosh users MUST have a USB
headset/microphone and not the smaller plug that your speakers or other
headsets use.
If your instructor is using it, Live Classroom will be located under
the Communications button (or even in the main navigation for the
course). We are requiring instructors to have training before using this
tool to ensure the best possible experience for you.
