Digitizing Media
Multimedia Services has the ability to digitize video in most formats with the exception of 8 mm tapes. We also have the ability to digitize most audio and still pictures. Call User Support Services at 395-4357 to place a work order. U.S. Copyright Code also applies to all requests for digitizing media.
NOTE:
- Digitizing video requires a substantial amount of disk space and involves a balance between quality and size. Although full-motion, full screen video is more realistic and generally friendlier to the university community, it is not guaranteed to run smoothly when viewed on some machines. A simple formula for understanding the digitization process is: “x “(Frame size) multiplied by “y “(the number of frames per second) multiplied by “z” (seconds of video) = File size.
- Digitizing will not improve or enhance the quality of the original source.
- Digitizing, editing, and compressing video takes a good deal of time, as well as close work with the client. If digitizing for a multimedia presentation, please be sensitive to time constraints and flexible with scheduling.
