Communication, Literacy & Learning
The mission of the faculty, staff, and students at the Longwood Center for Communication, Literacy and Learning is to provide professional services to children, adults and families in Southside Virginia.
This includes:
- Speech-Language Screenings and Evaluations (articulation, language, voice, stuttering) for children and adults
- Treatment for Speech and Language Disorders (articulation, language, voice, stuttering) for children and adults
- Tutoring services in English, Math, Science and Social Studies for school-age children
- Treatment of Swallowing Disorders for children and adults
- Communication strategies and speech reading for persons with hearing loss
- Accent Modification
- Educational Evaluations
- Parent Education Programs
Services are provided by graduate and undergraduate students in Communication Sciences and Disorders and Education, under the supervision of Longwood University faculty.
Speech and Language Services
Services at the center are provided by Communication Sciences and Disorders graduate students. Students are supervised by faculty and clinical supervisors who are nationally certified, Commonwealth of Virginia licensed professionals with many years of experience and expertise. The clinical supervisors provide ongoing, direct supervision of all assessment and intervention activities.
