
Searching for a fun and innovative class for graduate credit or relicensure points? If so, it’s your turn for a field trip and to gain great classroom ready materials! Come to this exciting class that explores issues concerning our environment, the Chesapeake Bay, and other Virginia waterways through the lens of economics.
The class will investigate questions such as: Why we should care about our water resources, how they impact our economy, why Virginia's water resources are being damaged, and how economics can assist us in good resource stewardship. The class incorporates instruction on "Water 101" by Clean VA Waterways and an ecotour of the James River with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
Material will be delivered using an educator-friendly, hands-on approach that incorporates many classroom activities and children's literature selections. The course materials are easily adaptable and integrate with K-12 learning objectives across the curriculum.
Here are the details:
* The first 15 people to register for the graduate course option will receive a $350 scholarship, making the total 3 credit course cost $273.91. The value of this program is estimated to be $1300 per person. (see enrollment option 1)
Course fees (workshop or graduate course option) includes double occupancy lodging at the Homewood Suites-Innsbrook in Richmond, VA (nights of July 14-17), breakfast, lunch, dinner and the ecotour. WOW!
The classroom portion of the program will be held at the Virginia Bankers Association, located just minutes from the Homewood Suites-Innsbrook, so you will not spend a lot of money on travel costs.
Enrollment Option 1:Econ 595-93 Graduate Course (3-credits ) $273.91 for the first 15 who are eligible for scholarship, otherwise $623.91. Registration for the course must be completed through the Longwood University Registrar’s office. Registration forms are available below or by calling our center at 434.395.2461. Registration begins on March 20,2008.
