THE LCVA COLLECTION
In addition to nationally recognized rotating exhibits, the LCVA holds an important and growing permanent collection. The LCVA is the only museum in the state with a primary focus on collecting Virginia artists. Furthermore, the art center holds the stunning Ziegler and Brumfield Collections of African Art; the Rowe Collection of Chinese Art; the Cole Collection of 19th-century Bohemian and European glass, English pottery, and Meissen porcelain; and a vital American collection that includes works by Thomas Sully and James McNeil Whistler.
One of the LCVA's foundational commitments is that this art should be enjoyed and appreciated by the faculty, staff, students, and visitors of Longwood University.
