LCVA Galleries Closed through January; Special Events Continue

Because of roof repairs on the facility of the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts, the galleries will be closed to the public from now through January 22.  Administrative staff will maintain their regular hours, and special events will still occur at the facility.

“We were scheduled to open a new set of exhibitions on November 13,” commented LCVA Director K. Johnson Bowles.  “However, even more important than exhibiting art is our mission to safeguard the art.  We cannot safely design or mount exhibitions until the roof work has been completed.”

Special events will continue at the facility, including a screening of the film Surfwise on Wednesday, November 18, at 7 p.m.  On Saturday, December 12, from 10 a.m. through noon, children and their families are invited to a free family art workshop in celebration of the season’s traditions and holidays.

The LCVA will resume its public hours on Friday, January 22.  On that day, the art center will host a free public reception from 5 – 7 p.m. in honor of the opening of its winter exhibitions.
