Costume designer Melissa Panzarello will team up with Emily Gresham to offer this first-ever summer sewing camp.  Using materials and equipment from Longwood University’s Theatre Department, participants will experience an introduction to basic hand and machine sewing, including skills such as straight seams, button sewing, and hem stitches.  An experienced costume designer, Panzarello will also provide an introduction to how art and theatre work together, showing sketches and designs from her past productions.

Melissa Panzarello received her MFA in costume design from Florida State University and has designed or worked on costumes for more than eighty theatrical productions across the country.  While in New York, she worked on or designed costumes for the SoHo Repertory Theatre, several Broadway productions, and Radio City Music Hall.  At Longwood, she designs and oversees costumes for theatrical productions, as well as teaching classes in sewing, costume design, and theatrical design.
