FAMILY WORKSHOPS

Family workshops are designed to bring the family together in an enriching and creative environment to celebrate the seasons of the year.

Thanks to generous sponsorships, the LCVA's workshops are free and open to the public, with a variety of activities, music, and light refreshments.

Attendants will be on hand to assist with activities. However, children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration is required -- come join us!

Dia de los Muertos:
Mexico’s Celebration of Life
Saturday, October 27
10 a.m. – 12 noon, Lower Level

This cherished holiday started in Mexico and Central America, but it has spread around the world, and Farmville is no exception. El Dia de los Muertos celebrates life in general, and the lives of our dearly departed in particular. With colorful flowers, banners, and maracas, our volunteers will help children and their families learn about this important cultural celebration. In addition to engaging in art activities, listen to festive music and enjoy light refreshments. We’ll also have a pumpkin-carving station—so bring a pumpkin and take home a jack-o’-lantern!

Winter Wonderland
Saturday, December 8
10 a.m. – 12 noon, Lower Level

Bring your family to the LCVA to get in the holiday spirit by making decorations, cards, gift wrap, and a sleigh-full of other projects. We’ll have decked the halls with evergreen trees and a giant snowglobe to set the stage for some magical artwork honoring the holidays and traditions of winter. Music, light refreshments, and a team of volunteers will set you and your family at ease, raising spirits and making your day merry and bright.

Valentine-Making Workshop
Saturday, February 2
10 a.m. – 12 noon, Lower Level

Ribbons, lace, glitter, pink, red, and white evoke a sweetness and charm each Valentine’s Day. A handmade token of love and caring can create enormous warmth and joy. Join us at the LCVA for this year’s Valentine-Making Workshop. Both new and familiar items are on hand to make lovely Valentines that show love in word and image.
