   Joan of Arc Leadership Program

The Joan of Arc Leadership Program will consist of four components:

Emerging Leaders (freshmen only)

the SHIELD Program

the PALDRON Program

the GAUNTLET Program

 

Emerging Leaders is NOT a prerequisite for the other components, but the SHIELD must be completed in order to participate in the PALDRON program, which must be completed before one engages in the GAUNTLET program.

Well, the 2008 Fall Emerging Leaders Program is just the thing for you…

TO COMPLETE THE EMERGING LEADERS PROGRAM, YOU NEED TO ATTEND AN INFORMATIONAL MEETING AND ALL SIX WORKSHOPS. 

ALL WORKSHOPS WILL BE HELD FROM 6-7:30 P.M.

IN THE “C” ROOM OF THE LANKFORD STUDENT UNION.
 

Program Dates: 9/17 (Information Meeting), 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29

What is Citizen Leadership?

Leadership & Personality

Clarifying Values & Setting Goals

Listening, Communicating & Asserting Yourself

Appreciating Differences

Being a Balanced Leader

the SHIELD Program

 

The second component of Longwood’s leadership program is open to all students. To complete the program, students must attend six workshops.  ALL participants will learn about managing conflict and making ethical choices; two key things that citizen leaders face.  Then students get to choose four other workshops from either or both an “organizational leadership” and “personal leadership” series.
 

All workshops run from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the “B” Room of the Lankford Student Union

 

Program Dates: 9/28 (Information Meeting), 9/25, 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6, 11/13
Need to Attend Two Required Workshops and Four Workshops of Choice to Complete the Program
 

Topics Include:

Doing the Right Thing (Required)

Managing Conflict (Required)

Recruitment & Retention

Developing a Team

Event Planning

Critical thinking & Problem Solving

Managing Stress

The PALDRON

FALL 2008

 

 To complete the program, students must attend six workshops.

ALL participants will learn about building coalitions & networking and spend time developing a personal road map; two key things for citizen leaders.  Then students get to choose four other workshops from a series of “group leadership” and “personal leadership” sessions.

  

All workshops run from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the “B” Room of Lankford Student Union

 

(Prerequisite: Need to Complete SHIELD)


Program Dates: 9/17 (Information Meeting), 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/12

Need to Attend Two Required Workshops and Four Workshops of Choice to Complete the Program

 

Topics Include:

Developing a Personal Road Map (Required)

Building Coalitions & Networking (Required)

Developing a Vision for a Group

Confronting the Non-Confronter in Your Organization

Consensus Building

Understanding & Using Feedback

Embracing & Promoting Change

 

Need to Attend Two Required Workshops and Four Workshops of Choice to Complete the Program


the GAUNTLET Program

 

(Prerequisite: PALDRON)

Fall 2008 ~ Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. in the "A" Room

Program Dates:  9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 11/20
 

Participants Must Attend Three Required Workshops and DEVELOP & PRESENT a Workshop for Emerging Leaders, SHIELD or PALDRON to Complete the Program

Topics Include:

Developing an Educational Program

The Art of Facilitating

Revisiting Your Roadmap: Self-Assessment & Reflection

Present a Workshop for a Lower Component of Joan of Arc Leadership
