Volunteer Programs

We aim to provide meaningful opportunities for students to volunteer their time as they learn to become citizen leaders and make positive contributions to the common good.

Volunteers can get involved in one of our many projects independently or with a group of friends to help local service agencies that have requested assistance.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

December

  • The 2011 Longwood Giving Tree:
Pick up card from the tree in Ruffner and follow the instructions to make your donation for the 2011 Longwood Giving Tree!  This year donations are being collected for local agencies including the SPCA, FACES food pantry and the Pregnancy Support Center.  For more information, contact Jen Rentschler

  • LCVA Winter Wonderland Workshop:
What?  The Longwood Center for the Visual Arts’ Winter Wonderland Free Family workshop
Where? The Longwood Center for the Visual Arts located on the corner of 3rd and Main St.
When?  Saturday, December 3rd from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  Volunteers will need to arrive at 9:00 a.m. and stay until 1:00 p.m. for clean-up.

The Longwood Center for the Visual Arts is looking for volunteers to help with our annual Winter Wonderland Free Family Workshop.  From glittery snowflakes and a warm fireplace to snow covered trees, the transformation of the LCVA has already begun!  At the workshop, children and their parents will be making their own personalized greeting cards, poinsettia flowers, glittery snowflakes, handmade gift-wrap, and a host of other wintery delights!  We need volunteers to help prepare as well as help children create crafts on the day of the event!

To decorate or do prep work, come now through December 2nd.  Or to help on the day of the event, join us on Saturday, December 3rd, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  To sign up to help, contact Hilary Symes at symesha@longwood.edu or call 395-2697.
