The login feature provides a more secure, safe and reliable computing environment.
What if I don't know my username and password?
If you have forgotten your LancerNet password, contact User Support Services at 434-395-4357 or go to the User Support Services Office in Coyner Building between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Otherwise, see a staff person at the Learning Commons Desk.
Do I need to log off the computer?
Yes, if you don’t, your open data files may be available for others to view.
The computer just timed itself out! Now what?
If you log into a Library computer and do not actively use it (e.g., clicking, scrolling, and typing), the computer may log you out automatically and you may lose your data.
Is this a permanent change?
Yes. The Library will continue to provide a more secure, safe and reliable computing environment that is difficult to compromise.

All community users must sign up at the Learning Commons Desk to use the Library’s computing workstations.
You are required to record your name and start time of usage. A staff member will direct you to an available workstation.
The purpose of the sign-up is to gather and compile daily operational statistics. As the Library does not retain sign-in logs, they are to be discarded after recording necessary numeric data.
Please see the Library's Internet Usage Policy for more information.
