Purpose
Greenwood Library offers to eligible online and distance education students and faculty home delivery of Greenwood Library books and journal articles as well as needed books and journal articles not owned by the Library, according to the Interlibrary Borrowing Policy.
Scope
Greenwood Library adheres to the guidelines of the American Library
Association’s Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States, 2008 and to the guidelines for international lending. Greenwood Library complies with all provisions of the U.S. Copyright Law.
Policies for Providing Materials Available in Greenwood Library
The following applies only to eligible online and distance education students and faculty, who may request delivery of materials owned by Greenwood Library through ILLiad, the online interlibrary loan system. The decision to lend materials is at the discretion of Greenwood Library. See the Document Delivery FAQ for information about how to place a request.
- Originals and photocopies are provided without charge.
- The duration of loans for document delivery materials is 60 days.
- Document delivery requests will be processed within 8 business hours.
- Greenwood Library does not loan the following:
- Rare and expensive materials
- Materials placed on Reserve
- Reference materials
- We reserve the right to recall items at any time for any reason.
- We reserve the right to suspend borrowing privileges.
- All borrowers of materials are responsible for the prompt return of loaned items to Greenwood Library. Greenwood Library reserves the right to suspend interlibrary loan privileges to any borrower who repeatedly returns interlibrary loan materials after the due date.
- Renewal of books that are owned by the Greenwood Library is allowed. These books are checked out to the user and may be renewed online through the library catalog. Go to My Account to renew books.
- Borrowers are responsible for the replacement of lost or damaged materials at a charge determined by the Library. Unpaid fines/fees may result in registration or transcript blocks for students as well as suspension of borrowing privileges. Fines may be paid at the Circulation/Reserve Desk, in Cashiering, or via mail. The mailing address is Circulation/Reserve Desk, Greenwood Library, 201 High Street, Farmville VA 23909.
- Requested materials will be e-mailed, faxed or shipped via first class mail or UPS to the distance education student's or faculty's home. For UPS, a street address must be provided. Articles are delivered electronically and are accessed by logging on to ILLiad.
- Books and nonprint materials must be returned to Greenwood Library via first class mail or UPS or FedEx by the due date on the material.
