Study Room Policies and Procedures

Purpose

For use by Longwood students, faculty, or staff.

Scope

Priority for all rooms is given to students, faculty, and staff for official university business. Listening/Viewing is limited to Longwood faculty and staff and to Longwood students for required class assignments. The University Librarian must approve any other usage.

Individual Study Rooms

Accommodate one to two people.
Availability:
First-come, first served basis.
Equipment:
None.

Individual Listening/Viewing Rooms

Number of Rooms:
6
Location:
Second floor (Rooms 213-216, 236-237).
Size:
Accommodate one person.
Availability:
Check out a key at the Circulation/Reserve Desk.
Equipment:
Audiovisual equipment includes VHS player/monitor, DVD player/monitor, laserdisc player/monitor, turntables/amplifiers, and compact disc players.

For group listening/viewing options, please check at the Information Center Desk on the first floor.

Rules for Use

  1. A Longwood ID is required to check out a room key and will be held at the Circulation/Reserve Desk until the key is returned. The user who has the key signed out is responsible for the use of the room, its equipment, and relocking the doors. A replacement charge will be assessed for a lost key.
  2. Rooms may only be used during hours the library is open.
  3. The Library is not responsible for personal items in the rooms.
  4. Please do not leave library materials in the rooms.
  5. Small appliances such as heating or cooling units are prohibited in the rooms.
  6. Room windows or doors may not be covered.
  7. Headphones must be used in individual listening/viewing rooms where applicable.
  8. Report any missing or malfunctioning equipment to the Circulation/Reserve staff.
