The purpose of this page is to make library services and resources accessible to:

• Distance education students (defined as students currently enrolled in Longwood University off-campus or online courses and living more than 20 miles from campus)
• Distance education faculty (defined as those currently teaching a Longwood University off-campus course)
• Library users conducting research from off-campus computers (home, workplace, etc.)

Services

Distance education students may use the special toll-free number provided by the instructor to reach any of the following phone numbers.

Circulation (434.395.2433)

• Get books and materials if you can't come to campus (distance education students only).
• Check your library record and renew items online. (For an example, see the video demo.)
• View borrowing periods, fines and other circulation policies.

Course Reserves (434.395.2433)

View items your professor has chosen especially for your class on e-reserve.

• Search by the course or your professor’s last name. (For an example, see the video demo.)
• You will need to know the course password provided by your instructor.

Hours

View Library hours, including holidays and interim periods.

Interlibrary Loan (434.395.2446)

• Request journal articles or books not owned by Longwood. (For an example, see the video demo.)

• Includes delivery of materials for distance education students and faculty.

Video Demos for Library Resources	Animated demonstrations on how to use library resources, including the catalog, journal finder, and article databases.
Research Guides	Guides for research in a particular subject.  Includes recommendations for finding books, articles, web resources, and background information as well as contact information for research assistance.
Databases by Subject	Over 150 indexes and databases, many of which link to full-text articles. A good place to look for articles from scholarly journals, newspapers, and magazines.	Troubleshoot Database Access
Library Catalog	A searchable inventory of what the library owns.  Used to locate books, DVDs, CDs, and more.  May be used to locate periodicals if you know the title of the journal or magazine, not just the title of the article.	Library Catalog Demo
Journal Finder	Title access to periodicals in the library's print and electronic collections.  May be used if you know the title of the journal or magazine, not just the title of the article.  Also a good way to learn what journals we subscribe to in a given academic discipline, e.g., physics. E-Books	Greenwood Library has access to over 10,000 books in electronic format.  Search the library catalog by keyword and limit the format to E-Books to see only electronic books in your results, or search the NetLibrary collection of over 7,000 ebooks directly.
FindIt! Button	Most of our article databases feature the button. Some database records do not include a link to full text. By using the Find It! Button, you can link to full text quickly if it’s available in another database.	FindIt! Button Demo
Citation Examples	Examples of proper citations for MLA, APA, and Chicago formats.
RefWorks Citation Composer	Web-based tool to create a database of your research sources. RefWorks will create a correctly formatted works-cited list/bibliography for your research paper.	RefWorks Instructions
