Print and Audiovisual Reserves

All print and audiovisual faculty reserves are located behind the Circulation/Reserve Desk and will be retrieved by the circulation staff as requested. Students may request course reserves by professor and/or the title of the document.

Reserve materials have limited check out periods as specified by the faculty member. Most items are for 3-hour library use only.

To find out what materials your instructor has placed on reserve in the Library:

  1. Click the "Reserves" tab on the Library Catalog main menu.
  2. Search by your professor's last name or by course (e.g., BIOL 101) as instructed.
  3. Items that are not checked out will show as "AVAILABLE" in the Call # column.
  4. Note the title, and take it to the Circulation/Reserve Desk.

Reserve items have higher overdue fines and may not be renewed.

Electronic Reserves

To view or print electronic reserves:

  1. Click the "Reserves" tab on the Library Catalog main menu.
  2. Search by your professor's last name or by course (e.g., BIOL 101) as instructed.
  3. From the course page, click the title of the e-reserve item you wish to view. E-reserve items will say "Electronic Copy Available" in the Format column.
  4. Enter your name and patron ID as instructed.
  5. Enter the course password provided by your instructor and click "Submit."
  6. Wait until Acrobat Reader starts and loads the file (large files will take longer, especially over dial-up connections).
  7. To print, use the Acrobat print icon just above the document, not the print icon or print menu option at the top for your browser.
  8. Click the "Back" button twice to return to the course page.

If you are accessing e-reserves that link directly to an online database from off-campus, you may be required to enter your LancerNet ID and password before viewing the article.

You will need the current version of Adobe Reader in order to view e-reserves. To download or update your version, go to http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readermain.html.

If you are using AOL for your Internet connection, you must use the standard Internet Explorer (5.0 or greater) browser instead of the proprietary browser provided by AOL. Any Windows computer will have Internet Explorer. Dial and make your AOL connection the usual way, then open Internet Explorer (Start | Programs | Internet Explorer). This is also necessary for other proprietary browsers such as MSN or CompuServe.
