Get the weekend started early! Join us for a book reading by Mike Lund, author of "How Not To Tell A War Story", Thursday September 6th at 6pm at the Longwood Barnes and Noble store.
LW3 Benefit Soccer Game "Dream Team" vs. Longwood University Faculty/Staff Team Friday, September 7th, at 7pm at the Johnston Drive Field. The Dream Team will consist of military members, family and friends of Wounded Warriors, and family, friends, and comrades of Army Capt. Shane Adcock, Marine Sgt. Donald Lamar, and Army Sgt. Andrew McConnell--- Admission to this event is free!
Memorial 5K Walk/Run Saturday, September 8th at 9:00am on High Bridge Trail. Parking will be available at Lancer Park. Participants in race must have purchased a Longwood Wounded Warrior Weekend shirt in order to participate in the race for free. Please be sure to wear your shirt to the 5K, or bring your receipt to the registration table. If you have not purchased a shirt the entry fee will be $15, which includes a free t-shirt. -- Admission to this event is free! (participation requires the purchase of a Longwood Wounded Warrior Weekend shirt)
Wounded Warrior Talk Saturday, September 8th at 12:30pm in Dorrill Dining Hall Nance Room. A speaker will be on campus to discuss wounded warriors and the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program. Snacks will be provided, and you are welcome to purchase lunch from the dining hall and bring it to the Nance Room--- Admission to this event is free! Guest may park in the Pine Street South Lot off Wynne Drive. Guests would walk down Pine Street to the Brock Commons Pedestrian Mall. Then walk along the right side of the mall to Dorrill Hall.
Longwood Wounded Warrior shirts will be available for purchase soon. Cost will be $15.00 which includes your entry fee in to the 5K. Shirts will be available for purchase in the lobby of Dorrill Dining Hall September 3rd-6th 11am-2pm and 5pm-7pm, and Friday, September 7th 11am-2pm. They will also be available for purchase at the above events and at Longwood's Rock The Block event. You may also contact any of the organizers of this event to purchase a shirt.
The majority of the profits from shirt sells will be donated to support the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Copes Family. SSgt. Copes, Longwood Class of 1999, served with Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) based out of Camp Lejeune and was killed in action of August 17, 2012. *If proceeds exceed $2,500 a donation of $500 will be made to the Longwood University ROTC General Scholarship fund.*
